What we can tell from
the 2016 US presidential election, is that the United States is both
politically and ideologically divided. As the majority voted for one candidate,
others for 3rd party, & a majority the Electoral College voted for
another. It is then the case that Trump therefore does not represent the
unity of all Americans (that is to say, he is not the president for all US
Americans.) since Trump's conservative position (colloquially known as the
"Religious Right") has been at odds with many US liberals, Democratic
Socialists, some right leaning & independent voters. The latter having
diverse opinions such as LGBT+ rights, privacy to a women allowing abortion,
collective bargaining, US intervention to influence foreign nations, & a
disdain for renewable energy sources. Including also the decriminalization of
drugs & returning power back to the populace & not special interest
groups (i.e. corporate control of power from the electorate) Trump has shown to
be just the opposite by filling his own cabinet with rich bankers, oil, coal
energy companies & private interest to name the few examples. Also
candidates from the religious right starting to reduce funding to Planned Parenthood
(reproductive rights) to undoing environmental protections of water, air &
use of pesticides, we can thus conclude that Trump is not the president for all
US Americans, but that of powerful private companies. Seeing how the people are
currently reacting to these changes, we can deduce that most US Americans are
people who recognize his presidency, yet do not follow him as a president,
rather that of a person who has amounted power for his ideological use.
