Laisha Junaid into history as the first "Maldivian Idol"

The young & extremely talented singer Laisha Junaid has been titled as the first Maldivian Idol while Shalabee Ibrahim is the runner up & Mohamed Ishan won the 3^rd place at the Grand Finale of the show which was held last night. Premiered in January 2016 with 16 contestants, Maldivian Idol has its own website & YouTube Channel, twitter & Facebook where viewers had the chance to get the latest updates of the shows as it happens. Maldivian Idol which has been the biggest entertainment show in Maldives history is based on the popular British show Pop Idol created by English Television producer Simon Fuller.  The Public Service Media (PSM) which is the State Media in the Maldives announced their local franchise of the American show American Idol on 26^th July 2015. The first season of Maldivian Idol premiered at TVM on 22nd January 2015. As the first franchised international television show in the Maldives, Maldivian Idol was judged by Mariyam Unoosha, Ibrahim Ali and Ahmed Ibrahim while full technical support for the show was provided by Fremantle Media Group which is a British international television content & production company. Maldivian Idol had 4 rounds; Open Audition, Theatre Round, Piano Round & Gala Round while the public voting commenced from the third round onwards. Throughout the show Laisha Junaid seems very genuine and humble, engaging with the audience of the show with courage. As the first Maldivian Idol, Laisha Junaid has written history in our entertainment industry.
