There is a night at the blessed month Ramadan which is better than a thousand months. Although there are different reports in different traditions regarding the exact night, it is almost unanimous that the blessed night Lailatul-Qadr occurs in one of the last ten nights of the month Ramadan and more probably in one of the last ten odd nights i.e. 2lst, 23rd, 25th 27th or 29th night.

Lailatul-Qadr is a celebration to commemorate the arrival of the final guidance for humans. There are several good deeds recommended for Muslims to do on this night like reciting the Quran, giving charity, asking for forgiveness, praying wholeheartedly & making prayers for Allah. As defined by the holy Qur'an, the book Qur'an was revealed in the month of Ramadan. Allah (swt) says in Surah Al-Baqarah: " The month of Ramadan, that in which the Qur'an was sent down; guidance for mankind, and clear signs of guidance and distinction (2:185). According to the Islamic belief the first verses of the Quran were revealed to the prophet Muhammad (saw) at the night of Lailatul-Qadr. Showers of mercy & blessings are heaped on the believers by Allah (swt) at the night of Lailatul-Qadr which is known as the night of power & the night of glory.

During the night of Lailatul-Qadr the gates to Paradise are opened and the gates of Hellfire are locked, and the devils are chained. The blessed night of Lailatul-Qadr can be found in any of the last 10 nights of Ramadan. Since the Night of Lailatul-Qadr is better than one thousand months which is equivalent to 83 years and 4 months, no one can actually measure the extent as to how much better it is. I pray to Allah to bless us this Ramadan by helping us witness the holy night of Lailatul-Qadr.
