The Bollywood song “Teri Pyari Pyari Surat Ko Kisi Ki Nazar Na Lage” by the lyricist Hasrat
Jaipuri is among the best known lines of Bollywood songs of those days of 1960’s.
The first hindhi line of this song “Teri Pyari Pyari Surat Ko Kisi Ki Nazar Na Lage” means “May all malicious glances be away from
your lovely visage” in the English language. Maybe that’s the reason why the
song “Teri Pyari Pyari Surat Ko Kisi Ki
Nazar Na Lage” swept awards during those days of 1960’s. So I can imagine how
popular this song must have been during those days.
The song sung by Mohamed Raf for the 1961 movie “Sasuraal” was the top song
in a weekly radio show named Binaca Geetmala listened by millions broadcasted
via Radio Ceylon from 1952 to 1988 during those days the song also made Rafi
achieve the Filmfare award for the best male singer. L.V. Prasad was the
producer of this famous song & the movie which was very popular in the
years of mid 1960s of Bollywood. This song pictures Rajendra Kumar and B Saroja
Devi at the video. In the video of this song, actor Rajendra Kumar walks behind
the actress B Saroja Devi singing “Teri Pyari Pyari Surat Ko Kisi Ki Nazar Na Lage”. Actress B Saroja Dev expresses her
displeasure, but is secretly pleased with his attention when actor Rajendra
Kumar is not looking at her. At the last line of the song actor Rajendra Kumar
says: Don’t look into mirrors, or it’s vitiated glance may get you, May Gog
preserve you from evil eyes” to B Saroja Dev while she continues walking in a
garden pursued by Rajendra Kumar
The movie of this song “Sasural” was as big a hit just like the song while
the music of this song may have done more for the success of the movie during
those days. The movie “Sasural” was directed by T.Prakash Rao while the music
director of the movie was Shankar Jaikishan.
