Since its launch in 2010, Angry Birds a video game
franchise has become the world’s most downloaded game reaching more than 1
billion downloads globally. UAE & Qatar are competing to build the
Middle East’s first ‘Angry Birds’ amusement park. UAE's Abu Dhabi the
capital and the country's fourth largest city Al’ Ain and Qatar's capital
city Doha have approached Gebal Group the developers of Angry Birds theme
parks to build the world’s biggest ‘Angry Birds’ Theme Park ever. Gebal Co LLC
is an established market leader in the provision of Play Equipment, Safety
Flooring, Shading and Street Furniture established in the UAE in 1978.
According to the three municipalities the park is expected to cost up
to $16 million which is equivalent to 60 million Doha currencies and can be
completed within 18 months. Gebal Group's director of operations and
development Nigel Cann said, "“We are speaking to private investors
in Doha and UAE, all are interested to install the first Angry Birds theme park
in the region, but Doha is in the more advanced stages of negotiation,” ”The
presentations have been made, now investors are looking for a space and
deciding whether to have an outdoor or indoor park”. Nigel believes that it is
the interactive world meeting the physical world, and we are trying to get
children off sofas and outside to get some physical exercise. There is already
Angry Birds theme parks in China, Philippine, Singapore, UK and Finland. With a
combined 1.7 billion downloads across all platforms the game has been one of
the most mainstream games out right now being one of the great runaway hits of the
year 2010. Angry Birds, a game created by Finnish computer game developer,
Rovio Entertainment has been the largest mobile application success the
world has seen so far.
