Wenxia YU of China who believes that Success is not the size of the forces but can persist long, has won the Miss World 2012 title in a colourful glittering ceremony held at the Dongsheng Stadium of China on August 18, 2012. "When I was young I felt very lucky because so many people helped me,
and I hope in the future I can help more children to feel lucky" said Wenxia YU when asked why she should be crowned.
116 contestants around the
world represented their countries on the world at stage this year's Miss world competition. Wenxia YU
defeated the title by challenging more than 100 other contestants across the world at the historical ceremony which was held at the Ordos Stadium Arena
in inner Mongolia of People Republic of China. At first on August 4th 16 contestants were selected as semifinalists and later 5 finalists were announced at the Ordos theatre during the Talent final which was held on August 8th by the presenters Myleene Klass and Jason Cook. 24 contestants were selected as semifinalists each with a group of 6 who went through the Sports finals held at August 9th and 10th. There were six sports events. There are swimming shuttle run, 100 meter sprint, relay race, penalty shoot out and long jump. On on July 23rd Top Model 2012 qualifiers were announced. So 47 contestants were selected as semifinalists and on August 12th they went through the finals. These top model finals took place at the Erdos 1436 Fashion House, in Market Square and featured Graham Black's collection for 'Erdos 1436'. And the top 10 finalists were selected yesterday August 18th and 23-year Wenxia YU became the winner of Miss World 2012 contest while Sophie Moulds of Wales is the runner-up and Jessica Kahawaty from Australia holds the 3rd place. Wenxia YU who was also crowned as Miss China 2012 in Beijing as the 62th Miss China becoming China's second Miss World winner. Wenxia YU was handed over her crown by last year's Miss World, Ivian Sarcos of Venezuela. This year's Miss World 2012 is the 62nd edition of the Miss World contest.
