India's first superstar Rajesh Khanna passes at age 69

India's first known superstar, Rajesh  Khanna has died at the age of 69 in Mumbai last Wednesday18th July 2012. Rajesh died at his Mumbai home Wednesday after battling health issues in recent months . The actor was admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati hospital last week following reports of low blood pressure and following kidney problems. However the exact cause of his health problems was unclear. Tributes to Rajesh falls in, including from Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and  in a press release Indian president said "I am saddened to learn about the passing away of Rajesh Khanna. Famous producer Mahesh butt said  “When we lose a loved one, something within us dies. Our generation loved Rajesh Khanna. Today a bit if us dies with this enigmatic star.”  at one of his tweet messages regarding the death of Rajesh. In his prime as an actor he was the heartthrob of the young generation of 1970s, who tried to model themselves on him and his style.". Indian television channels hosted special shows on his films ,meanwhile social networking websites as Facebook & Twitter were full of tributes to Rajesh Khanna. Rajesh Khanna was born at Jatin Arora of India on 29th December 1942. Rajesh  got married in 1973 to rising star Dimple Kapadia and had two daughters, Rinke and Twinkle

Khanna was a life member of the International Film And Television Research Center, the International Film and Television Club and the Asian Academy of Film & Television. Rajesh Khanna was also a member of Parliament for the Indian National Congress, from the New Delhi constituency from the year 1992 to the year 1996. In 1991 Rajesh, was awarded the Film-fare Special Award for completing 25 years in the Indian film industry. Khanna won three Film-fare Best actor awards and was nominated for the same fourteen times receiving the awarded of Film-fare Lifetime achievement award at the year 2005. Rajesh Khanna who was a both actor and a director appeared in 163 feature films of which 128 films saw him as the lead character and 17 short films as well. Rajesh Khanna was a hit  name during the 60s and 70s from the well known famous movies such as  Kati Patang, Aaradhana, Anand, Amar Prem, Do Raaste and Safar. Rajesh  made his film debut in Aakhri Khat  which means "The Last Letter" in 1966 and later his big break came three years later with the hit Aaradhna  meaning "Worship". The actor's  funeral was held at Thursday 19th July at about 11:00 am hours, one day after his death occurred .  The Bollywood film industry expressed grief at the death of the first well known superstar of Bollywood.
