President Mohamed Nasheed has today opened the Equatorial Convention Centre (ECC) in Addu City
expressing his gratitude to all the individuals
who contributed to the successful completion of the Equatorial
Convention Centre where this year's SAARC summit is to be held. Equatorial Convention Centre is a convention centre which is located in Hithadhoo, of Addu atoll. Speaking at the opening ceremony of ECC, former chairperson of MDP said that the
convention centre and other infrastructure developments in Addu city were
examples of the growth and expansion of our beloved country which is pledged in his party's manifesto. Maldives first democratically elected President added that the advancements brought to Addu city
will be “a billboard, a leaflet, and a poster” of the developmental
goals set for the 7 regions of the Maldives. . Concluding his speech H.E Mohamed President Nasheed stated
that SAARC Summit has greatly encouraged the various developmental
projects in both Addu City and Fuvahmulah.
Equatorial Convention Centre (ECC) was specially build for the seventeenth SAARC summit which is to be held in this year's November 2011 in Addu City and nearby Fuvahmulah island.
The two-storey convention centre,has been built for the SAARC Summit with an Rf150 million budget.
