Today 7th April 2013 is marked as World Health Day by WHO which is UN's health organization. Most of all, the World Health Day is held to mark WHO's founding, in other means World Health Day is WHO’s birthday. It is celebrated on every year's 7th April to mark the anniversary of the founding of WHO in the year 1948. Healthy is not something that you need to get, it's something you have already if you don't disturb it. Each year a theme is selected highlighting a priority area of public health concern in the world regarding this day. The theme for World Health Day 2013 is controlling high blood pressure. In this day one of the most important things that we should understand about health is that there's lots of people in this world who spend so much time watching their health that they haven't the time to enjoy it.
Health is the general condition of a person's mind and body, usually meaning to be free from illness, injury or pain. WHO is a specialized agency of the United Nations (UN) that is concerned with international public health. In the year 1948, the World Health Organization or WHO held the organization's first World Health Assembly in it's headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland . This Assembly came to a conclusion deciding to celebrate 7th April of each year, with effect from 1950, as the World Health Day. The constitution of the WHO had been signed by all 61 countries of the United Nations by 22 July 1946, with the first meeting of the World Health Assembly which concluded on 24 July 1948. Also WHO is a member of the United Nations Development Group. Before, this Health Organization, was an agency of the League of Nations. League of nations was the first international intergovernmental organization founded as a result of the Paris Peace Conference that ended the First World War and it's main aim was to maintain the world as a peaceful place. The WHO organizes international, regional and local events on the occassion of World Health Day related to a particular theme every year since the organization started to mark this day.
Switching to a healthier lifestyle doesn't need to happen in a day. By making smaller changes and smarter choices you can live with in the long term are better and will provide lasting results. Every year around the world, World Health Day is seen as an opportunity to picture worldwide & nation wide attention to a subject of major importance to global health in the world. Every year World Health Day is acknowledged by various governments and non-governmental organizations around the world with interests in public health issues. Many governments also organize activities and highlight their support for World Health Day around the world in attempts to celebrate this day to promote health awareness in their countries.
