Several commercially and critically successful films were released during the year 2011 from Bollywood and Hollywood. At the end of 2011, eight releases of 2011 had entered the list of highest grossing Bollywood films while top ten films entered the list of the highest rankings in Hollywood box office at the year 2011.

According to the media reports, award ceremonies and critics, the movie “Body guard” wins the most successful film of Bollywood. Body guard is the year's highest grosser with a total net of 20.66 crore on its opening day, 85.50 crore in its extended opening weekend and 109.47 crore in its extended first week of business, and is currently the second highest grossing film of Bollywood history. As per statistics, there were 107 Bollywood releases in the year 2011 but Body guard remains among the four films crossed the 100 crore mark at Bollywood cinematic history. Starring Salman Khan, Body guard is the Hindi remake of the Malayalam hit film Body guard. In the Hindi version Salman is paired with Kareena Kapoor. Now as we look to the movie critics by the movie reviewers of Indian media. I could say that this movie draws a different picture to every critic. A movie critic, Naresh Kumar Deoshi says, “To call Salman Khan the Rajinikanth of Bollywood would be unfair, for there’s none like him. Salman is just Salman “at a movie review article about this film at Apunkachoice website. Furthermore Naresh states that “Body guard from frame one to the end credits has an oversized Rajat Rawail who almost succeeds in scarpering the film with his horrible comedy”. So in his review Naresh rates Body guard 3 stars out of 5 at Apunkachoice website. Another Indian critic Satyen K. Bordoloi believes and wrote in an article at cinebasti website that “A little more effort on the editing table would have eased a lot of things. Overall, "Body guard" may not have the chutzpah of a "Dabangg", but it pulls itself through to entertain viewers during the festive season” about his movie review of “Body guard”.

American entertainment industry Hollywood gives the no: 1 movie of the year to “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part-2”. This movie was directed by David Yates and produced by David Heyman and David Barron. The story of the movie was based on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J. K. Rowling Starring Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson. The movie was released internationally on 13th July 2011. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part-2 is the highest grossing film in the Harry Potter series. The film had its world premiere on 7 July 2011 (2011-07-07) in Trafalgar Square in London. The film became a financial success and was one of the best-reviewed films of 2011. The producer believes the movie as the most successful movie of the year 2011 at Hollywood cinematic history. Critics around the world expressed different reviews of this movie since its first premier to the last premier of the film at different cinemas throughout the globe. Todd McCarthy of Telegraph's Philip Womack calls the climactic battle at the movie as "a genuinely terrifying spectacle." Todd McCarthy who is the chief film critic of “The Hollywood reporter” also wrote that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part- 2 is an "outstanding capper" to the series. Philip Womack of the U.K.'s Telegraph believes that the fans of harry potter would be satisfied with this movie as Peter Bradshaw a critic of the guardian wrote,It's dramatically satisfying, spectacular and terrifically exciting, easily justifying the decision to split the last book into two” in his review about this film in an article at 7th July 2011.
